Project Description
The concept is about ‘the Northern Lights’… we created an undulating baffled raft ceiling inspired by the dancing aurora to give us a vehicle to light the store.
When we designed this store, it was part of a bigger development to re-locate security from the Ground floor up to the departures level on the first floor. We wanted the store to feel absolutely integrated into the interior of the airport, and key to that was create a look and feel which is light, airy with natural finishes, and whilst it has all the brands, the personalization should be very limited.

The clean, contemporary design creates the perfect backdrop to make the product the star, supporting the clarity and ease of the shopping experience.

Following our planning of the commercial space for the terminal, our role was expanded to include the design of the departure lounge.

“We were determined to create a true expression of the location. The effect is stunning, and brings a character that is utterly dynamic and unmistakably Scandinavian. Having watched the way passengers flow into the selling spaces and easily navigate the product, and many of them often back-flow into the space from the lounge, I’m confident that this store will be an ongoing success story for Billund.”

We created an engaging display for malts by introducing glass cube glorifiers at high level and segmenting the wall by flavour notes. The idea here is to make this sub-category easy to shop particularly when customers are not accustomed to the nuances of individual malts.
