Project Description
Bogotá is Colombia’s beating heart, an engaging and vibrant capital cradled by chilly Andean peaks and steeped in sophisticated urban cool.
The national icon Sombrero Vueltiao has formed the inspiration for our concept. Its distinctive swooping forms, bold black and white patterning through to the beautiful weave construction have all played parts in influencing our design.
Each category references other distinctive characteristics of Colombia. Touches of gold permeate the store and at the heart of the space the thinking Colombia category will be an amplified expression of all things Colombian.
Drawing on the shape of the brim of the sombrero, we created a facade treatment that presents passenger with a dynamic entrance and adds a WOW factor to the store threshold. A central canopy inspired by the Sombrero has inspired the 3 Axis island concept approach.
At the heart of the space, The Thinking Colombia category is an amplified expression of all things Colombian. All of this is encapsulated by overall design references to the Sombrero to deliver a concept of Woven Beauty.

An open shelving wall inspired by the work of renowned Colombian architect Rogelio Salmona creates the backdrop to the Thinking Colombian space.

One of the ways we interpreted the chevron pattern seen in the weave of the sombrero was in the high level treatment onto these bulkheads and surrounds.

The pattern takes on different materials in each category creating a unifying language across the store that still has characteristics relative to each category.
