Sangster’s challenge – “To give a beating heart to the terminal that gives passengers that final taste and memory of Jamaica and Jamaican hospitality”

At the centre of airside departures we created a new heart to the terminal through complete commercial replanning, space reconfiguration and expansion. The Design Solution and Pragma Consulting worked together to develop a unique hospitality experience combining a new BOB MARLEY’S ONE LOVE® restaurant concept, a central bar and an extensive multi-food brand kiosk offer.

The overall space is a light filled rotunda with the design taking its inspiration and ‘sense of place’ from Jamaica, from the street scene to the bars and beaches. The design creates a relaxed and inclusive environment with a focus on an authentic aesthetic combining retro references and contemporary design relevant to both the tourists and locals alike. The central guitar themed bar pays tribute to reggae music icons with memorabilia, the LED drum above the bar, and a full sound system for a complete multisensory experience.
