We were responsible for developing the commercial brief for the airport at the outset. The terminal is constrained in width by the two main piers of the existing terminals creating a deeper than usual zone for the departure lounge. The basic site layout also inevitably leads to split passenger flows in the departure lounge to access the piers on either side.

Issues to consider included views to the apron, travel distances to the piers and the future APM, direct interfaces with gate holding and a phased approach to the commercial facilities. With space at a premium, we left no stone unturned in analysing numerous options at every scale to create the optimum commercial solution.

We believe this airside experience will be one of the world’s finest; commensurate with its dazzling architectural setting.
